Hi there. I am trying to create an I18n'ized system of cgi scripts. So far, we have no problem outputting chinese text to the browser - we just load it from a file and toss it onto the screen.
Our problem is accepting chinese input to web forms, when the user of the page is using a Chinese operating system that stores its characters as 2 bytes each. Our cgi scripts are written in perl on a one-byte-per-character, English version of Linux. Perl is not going to know how to deal with 2-byte character input from the cgi form.
Essentially then, the question is: in Perl, how do I deal with chinese input on an English system?
Thanks! Aaron
