那以後我們翻譯 po 檔時，還要加 '\' 字元嗎？還是就統一不加了 Eric Cheng -----Original Message----- From: thhsieh(a)tlug.sinica.edu.tw [mailto:thhsieh@tlug.sinica.edu.tw] Sent: Thursday, April 26, 2001 8:39 AM To: cle-devel(a)linux.org.tw Cc: debian-chinese-big5(a)lists.debian.org Subject: [info] new gettext Hi, 「新一代」的 gettext 已經出來了，不曉得大家知不知道？我所謂的「新一代」意思是: 至少它在處理 Big5 碼時，遇到「功」、「許」這類末尾碼為 '\' 字元的字時，我們都不再需要加額外的 '\' 字元，就可以直接用 msgfmt 來編譯了。舉個例子，以往我們在翻譯 po 檔時: msgid "there are many options." msgstr "這裡有許多選項。" 我們都要將 msgstr 改成 msgstr "這裡有許\多選項。" 也就是在 "許" 字之後多個反斜線，如此編譯才能過關。但現在使用「新一代」的 gettext 就不需要了 (多了那個反斜線反而編譯會出錯)。我個人認為，此「新一代」的 gettext 比起過去的版本還要好，且更符合我們使用，因此建議從事 po 檔翻譯的朋友試試看。同時最新的 glibc-2.2.X 在安裝時也已要求要這些新版的 gettext 了。此新版的 gettext 版本號碼為 0.10.36 以上，我昨天是直接到 GNU 抓最新的 0.10.37 來用。 ps. [zh-l10n] [i18n-chinese] Hello!

Hello everyone, (some of you may already know me as spacehunt, but this time I'm representing my company :p ) I am Roger So, now working at Sun Wah Linux Ltd (http://www.sw-linux.com) of Hong Kong. We are a relatively new company, and one of our main focus is on i18n and l10n of the Linux desktop (particularly GNOME), and contributing our efforts back to the community. As many software don't yet have complete Chinese translations, our company is willing to help out. We have some translators in China ready to help out translating po-files and documentation. 我的角度會比較偏向建議等待環境成熟以後在來做這樣的轉換工作。畢竟就算所有的po都轉成Unicode，沒有完整的unicode中文解決方案，那也是徒然變成一堆亂碼而已。志偉，你認為如何？ Jouston 黃峻崢

Hi, all, KDE team 寫信來詢問說是否將我們 zh_TW.Big5 的翻譯全部轉換成 utf-8 格式? 其實這問題我們滿早前就討論過了，只是未獲得共識，所以尚未有所行動。現在大家覺得如何呢? 我覺得主要的考量是若轉換為 utf-8, 我們就不應使用 zh_TW.Big5 這個名字了。或許應改為 zh_TW.
